The Congress today dared the ruling BRS to an open debate on the controversial Dharani portal.
TPCC Vice President Mallu Ravi said that the Congress was ready for a debate on the issue as the farmers were suffering a lot due to the portal.
He alleged that the BRS leaders had removed the details of all the assigned lands and podu lands distributed to the poor people of the state by the erstwhile Congress government from the portal.
He also alleged that the details of the total land holdings of several people were not entered on the portal. He claimed that the authorities had, for example, entered the details of only five acres of the land of a farmer who owned seven acres, and that there was no answer from the authorities when questioned about the issue.
He alleged that CM K Chandrashekar Rao was targeting the Congress as he had received an intelligence report that the party was going to form the next government in Telangana.
Separately, slamming the statement of the CM over the Dharani portal at a public meeting in Nagarkurnool district, Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao asked the CM to directly find out the problems being faced by the people of the State due to the portal.
Recalling that the Congress-led State government had distributed 500 acres of land belonging to one Raj Krishna Reddy to the poor people of the Dubbaka Assembly constituency through the hands of their party leader and then PM Indira Gandhi in 1981, he alleged that the same Krishna Reddy had registered the lands in the name of his daughters-in-law after the introduction of the Dharani portal.
He claimed that several officials of the revenue department had transferred lands belonging to the poor people of the State to their own names after the introduction of the portal.
He said that the State government had failed in taking action against the people who indulged in such irregularities, and that the Congress was seeking the cancellation of the Dharani portal to curb such irregularities and help the people of the State.
He however lamented that despite the Congress' efforts, there was no response from the State government on the issue so far.
