Guarantee TRS Promises To Muslims: Congress To MIM
The Telangana Congress said the MIM should stand guarantee that its ally would provide the 12% reservation to Muslims in Telangana that it (the TRS) promised.
The Telangana Congress has asked the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) to stand guarantee to the promises made by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to the Muslim community in Telangana.
Addressing a review meeting with the Congress workers of Bahadurpura in the Old City on Wednesday, the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said all political parties were free to make new alliances before or after the elections. However, such alliances should be made on the basis of principles and commitments.
He said that the MIM, which claims to be the sole representative of the Muslims, should stand guarantee that its new ally, the TRS, would provide the 12% reservation to Muslims in Telangana that it (the TRS) promised.
Shabbir Ali also questioned the MIM's failure to convince the TRS government to order a CBI probe into the Alair encounter in which five Muslim undertrials were killed on April 7. It had made just one representation to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and then remained silent, he alleged.
He also asked the MIM leadership to explain why it had failed to ensure a proper probe into the killing of innocent Muslims in the Kishanbagh area in May 2014.
Congress senior leaders, including Deputy CLP leader T Jeevan Reddy, were also present at the review meeting. (NSS)
