TPCC senior vice president G Niranjan today demanded that K Kavitha, MLC and daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, resign from the post of State Commissioner of Bharath Scouts & Guides, for "misuse of power".
Talking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Niranjan said that Kavitha had on Wednesday while speaking with the media at a function organized by Bharath Scouts & Guides on the occasion of Swathanthra Bharatha Vajrothsavalu at the Bharath Scouts & Guides Model School at Domalguda had commented that the TRS would win the Munugodu by-election with a thumping majority.
"We strongly condemn her statement at an educational institution. It is absurd and objectionable for Kavitha to use the premises of Bharath Scouts & Guides for political comments. We demand that the National Bharath Scouts & Guides chief expel her from her position as State Bharath Scouts & Guides Commissioner. The Election Commission too should change its existing policy of applying the Model Code of Conduct from the date of issuing the election schedule - it should come into force right from the date that the seat falls vacant, to curb such misuse of power and violation of election rules," Niranjan said.
