BJP Telangana State president N Ramachander Rao today strongly criticised the Congress for organising its public meeting Samajika Nyaya Samarabheri Sabha in the city, and alleged that the meeting was intended to undermine social justice.
He claimed that Telangana had become a vessel for the Congress' continued exploitation.
Rao dismissed the meeting as mere political theatre, and a drama in the name of Bhim (B R Ambedkar). He alleged that the truth was that the ruling party of the State had in fact placing shackles on the SCs and STs of the State and had committed gross injustice to the BCs, and had failed to fulfill any of the promises or guarantees it had made to those communities.
Rao said that the party had snatched tribal lands in places like Lagacharla and Kodangal, used bulldozers on uncultivated lands, filed cases against ST farmers, and acted vindictively by closing down Gurukul schools.
"The Congress using the slogans 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan' is a joke. That party has routinely murdered justice and constitutional values, most strikingly when it imposed the Emergency in 1975. It is surprising that the same party now shouts 'Jai Samvidhan'. The party repeatedly utters slogans to deceive the people, while its true intention is to act against them. It is now attempting to mislead the people of Telangana once again under the guise of a social justice war, despite failing to implement a single major promise in its 18-month tenure," he said.
Rao also ridiculed the Congress for chanting Jai Bapu, claiming that the party had actually weakened Mahatma Gandhi's dream of village self-governance. "Not conducting local body elections and withholding Rs 1,200 crore meant for village development are against the spirit of Gandhi," he said.
