Several students were injured when a college bus overturned today near the Peddapalli Jio petrol station in Balanagar along NH-44.
The students, from Manikanta Private College in Marikal, were on the way to Jalavihar in Hyderabad when the bus lost control while attempting to avoid bumping into another vehicle.
There were 43 students on board at the time of the incident. The injured were shifted to the Balanagar government hospital, where doctors said that all of them were in stable condition.
Minister Vakiti Srihari, who was travelling from Hyderabad to Wanaparthy, stopped at the accident site and reviewed the situation. A large crane was deployed to move the bus off the road, after which the minister proceeded to Wanaparthy.
Police said that the college bus, carrying students to Hyderabad, was involved in the accident. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
