Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), on Saturday, called for a dharna across the State against the rise in prices of essential commodities on October 14th.
According to a statement, party president K Chiranjeevi has directed his party cadre to hold protests in all the assembly constituencies. Chiranjeevi has directed all party leaders to participate in the protests.
The PRP leader told his party leaders and cadre that the failure of the government to prevent hoarding of essential commodities by unscrupulous traders has led to the sharp increase in prices. He said that people had been suffering due to high prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and consumables. Even the middle and upper-middle classes were being forced to take loans just in order to survive, the PRP president said.
The actor-turned-politician said that it was time for the government to take necessary actions to control inflation by reducing sales tax on petrol and diesel.
