Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Monday, said that Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi would not become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to media persons, Lagadapati Rajagopal said that prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh would accommodate Chiranjeevi in his ministry during the expansion of his cabinet soon. He also said that the Congress high command would not recommend Chiranjeevi for the chief minister's post directly, since he lacks political experience.
Lagadapati ridiculed Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao's statement that the Centre would announce a decision on Telangana statehood by September 30. He said that the Centre had never focused its attention on the statehood issue.
Claiming that Andhra Pradesh would remain united, he asked KCR not to make any provocative statements that could disturb the law and order in the state.
He asked KCR whether he would participate in the elections for vice-president if the Centre makes its stand on the statehood issue clear.
"When KCR has feelers from the Centre over a Telangana state, what is his problem in participating in the VP's polls?" he asked. (INN)
