22-year-old "child prodigy" Naina Jaiswal, from Hyderabad, has become the youngest girl in India to be awarded a Ph. D.
She got the award from Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh.
Jaiswal's research topic was "A Study on the Role of Micro-Finance in Women Empowerment" focused on Mahabubnagar district of Telangana.
Referred to as a "child prodigy", Jaiswal had completed her PG at the age of 15, and started pursuing her Ph. D. at the age of 17. She is also an international table tennis player, who has reportedly won multiple titles in both national and international championships.
On the achievement, Jaiswal said, "My parents Aswani Kumar Jaiswal and Bhagyalakshmi Jaiswal are my teachers. With the support and training of my parents I have been overcoming continuous challenges and proving that nothing is impossible. I thank my research guide Prof Murru Mutyalu Naidu and co-guide Prof Teki Surayya for providing invaluable guidance throughout the research."
