Indian National Lok Dal President Om Prakash Chautala on Thursday called on Telugu Desam President N Chandrababu Naidu, who was staging a hunger strike for the cause of farmers since last Friday, and expressed solidarity with him.
The leader from Haryana, after enquiring about Naidu's health from doctors at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, revealed that he was told that the TDP leader's health was deteriorating day-by-day as he refused to take intravenous fluids and undergo treatment.
Taking a serious note on the 'indifferent attitude' of the state government, Chautala demanded that the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy give up his adamant attitude and come out with adequate relief package for rain-affected farmers.
Chautala said that he would take up the farmers' cause in the state as a national issue and fight for their genuine demands.
He said that his party would have an alliance with like-minded parties over the farmers issue and mount pressure on centre in Parliament, demanding the announcement of special relief package for hapless farmers in the Andhra Pradesh.
