AP Bhavan Resident Commissioner Shashank Goel on Wednesday sought the help of the Delhi police in evicting TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who started an indefinite hunger strike in the premises.
Goel wrote a letter to the Principal Secretary of the Home Ministry, stating that Naidu's hunger strike in the AP Bhavan premises was illegal. He also forwarded the letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner, and to the Election Commission, to check the election code of conduct in force, in view of the Delhi Assembly elections. In addition, he sought the help of the Delhi police to evict Naidu and his supporters from the premises.
However, Naidu, who began his fast on Monday, refused to vacate the premises, saying that his fast is for a good cause. The TDP supporters also had a minor scuffle with the police personnel who visited the AP Bhavan on Wednesday.
Authorities locked AP Bhavan's gate, refusing entry to anyone. TDP Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageshwara Rao condemned the action, stating that even elected representatives were not allowed to enter the premises. (INN)
