"Chandrababu Naidu's past haunts him like a terrifying shadow and he cannot show one single instance of honouring his word. He is remembered by the people as a person who has usurped the Party and power from NTR. The YSR family on the other hand is known for keeping its promises, and Jaganmohan Reddy has always been with the people unlike the TDP leader," YSR Congress Party leader and Jagan's sister Y S Sharmila said today at Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district, and appealed to the people to vote for the YSRCP's fan symbol for prosperity and welfare.
Addressing a large gathering as part of the YSR Jana Bheri here on Friday, she said, "Naidu took anti-people decisions and increased power charges 8 times in 8 years, and after the death of YSR, shielded the Congress government to save himself from prosecution for the various corruption charges he has been facing."
"The Congress could divide the state only with the letter Chandrababu Naidu submitted giving his unconditional consent to the division of the State. He along with the Congress is equally responsible for the division of the State," she added.
"He backstabbed NTR and folded up all the latter's welfare schemes by increasing the price of rice from Rs. 2 a kg, lifting prohibition, and allowing the sprouting of belt shops all over the State.
"In the 1999 elections, he made many promises, particularly for the education of the girl child and employment to the youth. He forgets all promises immediately after the elections. With election season now, he is now again promising jobs, loan waivers and colour TVs, and singing the All Free rhyme. However, he never considered waiving of interest on loans even while he was in power. He had a low opinion of agriculture, and passed snide remarks on YSR's free power promise.
"People of Kuppam elected him for 5 terms. A person who could not develop the Kuppam panchayat into a municipality saying that he will develop a capital city on the lines of Singapore is absurd and ridiculous.
"It was the YSRCP that was with the people and had taken up their cause, holding dharnas and deekshas for farmers, students, women, weavers and other sections.
"I appeal to you to vote for the YSRCP and strengthen the hands of Jagan. Under his leadership, there were will welfare and development," she concluded. (INN)
