Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu participated in a yoga event at the Convention Centre in Vijayawada today on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
Addressing the participants, Naidu said, "Yoga is our natural and hereditary wealth. Many countries organising Yoga Day celebrations today is a good sign. In the past, Swami Vivekananda had propagated the importance of yoga, and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been promoting yoga across the world."
He added that the credit for the International Yoga Day celebrations goes to the Prime Minister upon whose request the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day.
"Yoga is not confined to any particular religion or country. Yoga is a science, and it helps us in staying healthy and promotes positive energy. The nation has launched a new era today," the CM said.
"When I was Chief Minister in 1994, I organised yoga sessions for ministers and officials. Recently, 3-day yoga sessions in association with Isha Foundation were organized for AP officials. This has helped in maintaining discipline and improved concentration levels," Naidu added.
The Chief Minister also administered an oath to the participants concerning their responsibilities towards society. Later, he released "Vijetha Chandrababu", a book on him.
AP ministers K Acchen Naidu and Ravella Kishore Babu, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha and others participated in the session. (NSS)
