Former Union minister and BJP leader Daggubati Purandeshwari today said that the Centre would soon announce a special package to assist Andhra Pradesh in its development.
Speaking to media on Wednesday, Purandeshwari said, "I have apprised the Party's national president Amit Shah on AP's post-bifurcation scenario. The Union government understands the losses incurred by the State, and will do everything to mitigate the situation. The Centre is planning on giving a special package to AP which includes making it a national railway zone, among other offers. We are awaiting the announcement of the package by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley."
Speaking on the ongoing furore over the Centre's rejection of Special Status for the State, Purandeshwari said that the BJP remembered its election promises and would never renege on them. "The BJP will never deceive the people of Andhra Pradesh. The issue of Special Status is still being discussed among the higher-ups at the Centre," she said.
