Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha, on Monday, said that the cabinet sub-committee on the SC-ST sub-plan would submit its report to the state government within 45 days.
Talking to reporters after the cabinet sub-committee's meeting at the state Secretariat, Rajanarasimha said that a 15-day schedule to create awareness and elicit public opinion on the SC-ST sub-plan has been finalised.
As per the schedule, workshops will be conducted in Nalgonda on 16 May, in Hyderabad and Secunderabad on 18 May, in Vijaywada on 23 May, and in Mahbubnagar on 26 May. Meanwhile, the sub-committee will hold its next meeting on 21 May, he said.
The Deputy CM said that a state-level and a national-level workshop would also be conducted after the by-elections in the state are completed. He explained that the Election Commission has refused permission for publicity to seek public opinion for the SC-ST sub-plan.
However, he added that the Election Commission would be approached again to seek permission for the publicity of the workshops proposed in districts where by-elections are not being held.
Meanwhile, Rajanarasimha said that the cabinet sub-committee would also hold meetings with all the departments and NGOs concerned. The committee will also hold an all-party meeting before finalising its report, he said.
The cabinet sub-committee meeting was attended by ministers P Balaraj, Erasu Pratap Reddy, Dr. J Geetha Reddy and Dokka Manikya Varaprasad. (INN)
