MLA Rathod Bapu of the ruling BRS, who represents Boath in the Telangana Assembly, today defected to the BJP.
Senior Congress leader from Munugodu constituency and TPCC general secretary Chellamala Krishna Reddy, senior Congress leader Subhash Reddy from the Yellareddy constituency, and other leaders also joined the BJP.
Union Minister and BJP State president G Kishan Reddy welcomed all of them to the party at his residence.
Speaking on the occasion, Bapu alleged that tickets had been given by the BRS only to those who were corrupt and were indulging in liquor mafia. He also said that there was a strong opposition from the people to the BRS government, and that the people were looking at the BJP as an alternative. He said that the BJP's growing popularity in the tribal areas and even in backward areas like Adilabad was a testimony to its growth.
Kishan Reddy urged the people to give a befitting treatment to KCR, who he claimed had pushed the State to the plight of not being able to even pay salaries to government employees on the 1st of every month.
Targeting the Congress, Reddy alleged that the party had failed to implement its promises in Karnataka, and was trying to deceive the people of Telangana now with its six promises. He said that the party was collecting money in Karnataka where it was in power now and using it in Telangana for the upcoming elections.
