Gangala Srinivas, the BJP worker who tried to
immolate himself on November 1 to protest the arrest of BJP Telangana President Bandi Sanjay Kumar, passed away today of his burn injuries and related complications.
Srinivas was a native of Tammanalagudem in Ranga Reddy district.
Bandi expressed shock over the death of Srinivas.
He said that he was pained at the death of the loyal worker, and claimed that the party had tried its best to ensure that he did not lose hiss life.
He was speaking after taking part in the last rites of Srinivas at Tammanalagudem.
He called upon the party workers to not commit suicide and fight by staying alive.
He also said that the party had given a call for protest programs to be held across the state against the illegal arrests and harassment of party workers, and called upon the workers to go ahead and fight against the state government notwithstanding the problems they would face at the hands of the ruling TRS leaders.
