The Telangana BJP today urged the Election Commission to take precautionary steps for future elections in the State, as the people of the city had expressed apprehensions on the system adopted for the GHMC elections.
Speaking to the media after felicitating four new BJP corporators in the State Party office, the Party's floor leader and MLA Dr K Laxman said that many people had expressed doubts about the EVM system after going through the voting pattern and the eventual results. The BJP itself felt that it should have registered a double-digit number of seats based on its own study of the voting patterns and trends.
The BJP leader alleged that it was clear that the GHMC elections were not conducted democratically, if the process initiated by the ruling Party, right from deletion of voters and delimitation of wards to the reservation methodology, was observed carefully.
The BJP, after analyzing the GHMC election results, had decided to further strengthen organizationally right from the polling booth leve;, Laxman said.
