Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expel his Health Minister T Harish Rao from his cabinet for the recent botched-up family planning surgeries at the Ibrahimpatnam government hospital, and the deaths of four nursing mothers.
He also demanded that the CM suspend Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao on the issue.
Speaking to media persons at the State BJP party headquarters at Nampally, Sanjay said that the deaths of the four women had caused a nationwide uproar, and had left an indelible mark on the State. He added that those who had undergone the surgeries were daily-wage-earners and labourers, and that the State government had not even extended any help to the young children of the four victims after the tragedy, making the crime even worse.
Sanjay alleged that the health department had become corrupt and was routinely committing irregularities. He said that the Director was facing allegations over the deputations and promotions in the department. He also wondered how 34 family planning surgeries could be performed in just one hour.
Claiming that the CM was not taking action against those who were resorting to corruption, he demanded that the CM expel the Health Minister and the Director of Public Health immediately. Questioning the appointment of the Director of Public Health himself as the inquiry officer into the incident, he wondered how the officer who was responsible for the deaths in the first place could be the inquiry officer into the very same deaths.
