Telangana BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar today observed a 7-hour-long fast demanding that the state government respond to the problems being faced by the farmers of the state.
The "fast" was held at the state BJP office.
Speaking on the occasion, Kumar alleged that the farmers of the state were not getting adequate support prices for their produce.
He also said that there were no basic facilities at the IKP centres and paddy procurement centres of the state.
He lamented that the state was in such a situation that the farmers of Siricilla district were forced to burn their paddy.
He also expressed anger that the police were slapping cases against the farmers despite the fact that the latter had got relaxations from the ongoing lockdown.
He alleged that the state government was encouraging the broker system, and that the officials of the state government had themselves turned into brokers and middlemen.
The facts would come to the fore if the the state ministers toured in the field, he claimed.
