5 days after being
ruthless attacked by rivals, Akbaruddin Owaisi is conscious and communicative, the Care Hospital doctors have informed.
The busy road outside Care Hospital in Banjara Hills continues to be crowded with onlookers, most of who are reminded of the high-profile patient being hosted there when they notice the security cordon around the building. Thankfully, it appears to be just a matter of time now before the Chandrayanagutta MLA is discharged.
Meanwhile Asaduddin Owaisi, the elder brother of Akbaruddin and the Hyderabad MP, is suddenly the one making the news. He has once again refused security being offered by the government.
The Owaisi family has always declined a security cover, and has prided itself on being able to go around in the Old City without needing protection.
The situation would however appear different now - the people who attacked the younger Owaisi were not trying to do it incognito. They were brazen, attacked publicly, were intent on killing the MLA and wanted nothing less, and were fully aware that they would spend years behind bars if not land up on deathrow.
There is thus no reason to assume that they (the family) will not attempt it again, directly or through hired assasins.
In this context, it would appear unwise for the senior Owaisi assume that things will continue to be the same. Especially since his brother is the one more at danger.
The police are busy persuading the MP to be practical. In all likelihood, he will. For now, though, the focus is on to what extent Akbaruddin Owaisi will recover, and how soon.
