All arrangements for the biennial tribal festival of Sammakka and Sarakka of Medaram in Telangana are being made expeditiously.
The government is planning to allow the festivities from February 16 to 19 in Mulugu district in the state, but with all the necessary measures needed to ensure the following of Covid protocols.
The works to provide facilities at the Jathara site are likely to be completed in the first week of February.
This time the Telangana government has been spending huge funds to provide permanent facilities for the devotees coming to the festival site in a forest area in Mulugu district in the erstwhile Warangal district. The government has allotted Rs 350 crore for the festivities and facilities at the jathara site, and has released Rs 75 crore already, according to reports.
The state government has directed the officials to provide bathing ghats, dressing and resting rooms, shelter, roads, power and water supply at the site. The officials have reportedly taken all possible measures to ensure those, and have also created facilities for the parking of vehicles. The necessary police deployment has also reportedly been arranged.
It is said that lakhs of tribals and other people have already begun coming to the jathara site and praying.
Ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Satyavathi Rathod too have paid visits to the site and paid their respects to the goddesses.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy and other officials too have reportedly already offered prayers at the site.
