The
indefinite strike launched by nearly 4 lakh government employees affiliated to the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers (APNGOs) Association, demanding that the Centre keep the state united, is set to continue, following the failure of talks between the striking employees and the state government.
Talking to reporters later, APNGOs president P Ashok Babu said that the strike would continue even though the employees have agreed to participate in the Independence Day celebrations on Thursday.
He said that the APNGOs would conduct a meeting on August 16 at Guntur, to decide their future course of action.
Meanwhile, the entire administration, especially in the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, remained paralysed for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. While nearly 12,000 RTC buses remained off the roads, educational institutions and commercial establishments remained closed on Wednesday.
The services in the state Secretariat were badly hit due to the strike. (INN)
