Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy today lauded Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's "visionary leadership", and said that the latter's far-sighted policy interventions and imaginative way of developing the state had helped AP win 17 national awards.
(The CM presented the National Panchayat Raj Awards 2021 to various panchayats, mandals and districts of the state on the occasion of National Panchayat Raj Day today.)
Speaking to the media at the CM's camp office, the minister revealed that under Jagan's rule, AP had won second place in the e-governance awards category, two awards at the district level, four awards at the mandal level, and 10 awards at the Panchayat level.
"The vision of the CM to strengthen local bodies and to decentralise the secretariat system is what has helped us win so many awards for rural governance. This year, the awards were declared during a video conference held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These awards are special to us since they are symbols of the effectiveness of the secretariat system introduced by our government," a visibly Ramachandra Reddy gushed.
Further highlighting the YSR Congress Party regime's commitment to rural development, he added, "All the essential government-provided services have been made available to the rural residents of every village in the state. The secretariats too are working in an excellent manner and are responsible for the success of rural development schemes. They have been able to deliver the benefits of our programs to the doorsteps of the villagers of the state. The secretariat system will also act to further strengthen the Panchayat Raj system."
AP has been garnering attention for wining many National Panchayat Raj Awards since 2020. Last year, the state won 15 prizes.
