The Telugu Desam Party politburo has decided to write to prime minister Manmohan Singh, seeking his intervention to direct the state government to release a compensation package to rain-hit farmers.
Senior party leader Payyavula Keshav told media persons that the politburo members were trying to get the prime minister's appointment to make their representations. He added that party politburo members could not get the appointment, and so, had decided to write a letter to Manmohan Singh.
Payyavula Keshav was speaking after inquiring about the condition of Naidu, whose
hunger fast entered its second day on Saturday.
Payyavula Keshav revealed that the party would seek Dr. Singh's immediate intervention and directions to the state government to change the relief package announced.
The senior leader said that if the state government does not change its relief package, the people of the state would change it.
Yanamala Ramakrishnudu pointed out that the government had left no stone unturned to rush to the rescue of contractors working on the Jalayagnam project at any time of the day or night, but when farmers in the state needed its help the government was dilly-dallying.
Payyavula Keshav, Revanth reddy, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K Yerrannaidu, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu and many other Telugu Desam Party leaders spoke to media persons.
