AP: State-Wide Protests Against Kodali Nani's Comments
Activists of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the BJP today held agitation programs across the state against the "anti-Hindu" comments of minister Kodali Nani.
Activists of the Andhra Pradesh unit of the BJP today held agitation programs across the state against the "anti-Hindu" comments made by minister Kodali Nani.
The party's leaders also condemned the comments made by Nani against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and demanded that Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy remove Nani from his cabinet, and that the minister tender an unconditional apology.
The programs were held following a call by the state leadership of the party to hold protests at all district Collector and RDO offices of the state condemning the comments of the minister, and led to tense moments at some places of the state and even the arrest of some party leaders.
The police, for example, kept the BJP leaders under house arrest at Gudiwada.
Most if not all top BJP leaders took part in the protests - Vishnuvardhan Reddy took part in the agitations at Vijayawada, Bhanuprakash Reddy took part in Tirupathi and former minister Adinarayana Reddy took part in the Kadapa district.
The leaders expressed anger over the minister for "hurting the sentiments of the Hindu society".
