The 15th Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh kicked off on Wednesday with pro tem Speaker Appala Naidu administering oaths to Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and then to Leader Of Opposition Chandrababu Naidu.
The newly-elected MLAs entered the Assembly main gate and walked down the corridors decked up beautifully with flowers. After the pro tem Speaker brought the House to order, he first administered the oath to Pulivendula MLA Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who secured a majority of over 90,000 votes against his TDP rival.
Kuppam MLA Chandrababu Naidu took oath after Jagan.
The pro tem Speaker then administered oaths to the rest of the MLAs in alphabetical order.
The Assembly Secretariat will issue a notification for the election of the Speaker on Thursday. And Governor E S L Narasimhan will address a joint session of the Legislative Assembly and Council on Friday.
The Assembly sessions are expected to be held until June 18.
