The ANM-2, auxiliary, nursing and midwifery staff's pay has been increased from Rs. 5,200 to Rs. 10,020 from April 1st.
The state government has decided to meet some of the demands made by the ANM-2 staff who met Health Minister Dr. D L Ravindra Reddy at the Secretariat on Thursday.
Over 12,500 families would be benefitted by the government's decision, while the government will incur an expenditure of Rs. 145 crore for meeting some of their demands. Orders will be issued to ensure that they get their monthly pay along with leave facilities and uniforms, as demanded, said the minister.
The minister assured them that their other demands would be considered later. Over 12,000 people are working in primary health centres in Andhra Pradesh. The ANM-2 nurses had held a demonstration in front of the Health Directorate on Thursday. Meeting some of their demands, the minister appreciated them for their services in the rural areas.
The staff leader Bhopal thanked the minister and assured him that they would work as stipulated by the government.
