The state of Andhra Pradesh has won a prestigious award presented by the Institute For Competitiveness and the Mint Business Newspaper.
The minister for Major Industries, Sugars, Commerce and Export Promotion, Dr. J Geeta Reddy, will receive this award on behalf of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
The Institute For Competitiveness evaluates all the Indian states along several macroeconomic parameters, in order to identify their prosperity levels and their contribution to the country's growth. These awards celebrate the success of Indian states, based on their performance and development in the past year.
Incidentally, the Institute For Competitiveness is the Indian knot in the global network of Michael Porter's Institute For Strategy And Competitiveness at Harvard Business School.
Mint is a business paper from the Hindustan Times group, which is printed in association with the prestigious Wall Street Journal.
Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the most competitive investment-driven economy in the country. Apparently, the state has the best administrative environment, a well-defined human capacity for industry, and lots of scope for innovation.
This is the second year in succession that Andhra Pradesh has won this award.
The award will be presented by the Hon'ble Vice President of India, M Hamid Ansari, at a ceremony in New Delhi, on June 26. (INN)
