Schemes And Awards For Senior Citizen
Chief Minister Rosaiah announced awards for senior citizens and said that Andhra Pradesh was a pioneer in elderly-friendly policies.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah, on Thursday, directed the officials to take steps for releasing pensions of the aged and disabled on time.
Rosaiah said that Andhra Pradesh was one of the first states to give monthly pensions to the aged and disabled on a saturation basis.
The CM said that the state was the first to introduce monthly pensions for all women SHG members over 60 years on a co-contributory scheme through 'Abhayahastham'.
The Chief Minister said that senior citizens needed care and concern not only from the Government, but also from the society in general and the younger generation in particular.
Talking to officials on the eve of International Day Of Older Persons, which is being celebrated on October 1st in pursuance of UN General Assembly resolution of December 1990, he said that the day provided an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution, wisdom, dignity and the needs of senior citizens and to re-dedicate it to their well being.
The Chief Minister said that the government enacted "The maintenance and welfare of parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007" for providing effective provision for the maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens under the constitution.
The Government has organised a state-level function on October 1st at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, where eminent senior citizens would be honoured.
The nominations were received from all senior citizens associations and were scrutinized by a committee comprising of the Commissioner, Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens, representatives from Federation of AP Senior Citizens' Organizations (FAPSCO), AP Senior Citizens' Confederation (APSCCON) and Joint Action Committee of Senior Citizens.
The awards to be presented are:
Institution Award For Knowledge, meant for the institutions which are generating and spreading knowledge in the field of ageing.
Institution Award for Service for the institutions, which are providing outstanding services to the elderly.
Centenarian Award for mothers who have fought against all odds, so that their children fulfill their dreams.
Courage & Bravery Award for the older people, who displayed extraordinary courage in difficult situations.
Lifetime Achievement Award to the senior citizens, who have worked in the field of aging and made significant contributions to the field.
Creative Art Award for winners of National/ International acclaim for their contribution to literature, painting, theatre, feature films, and who are continued to be appreciated by the society despite their advancing age, and their efforts to train younger persons in the art.
Best Tribunal Award, for the tribunals which have filed and disposed of more number of cases pertaining to Senior Citizens.
Sportsperson Award to the winners of National/International Championships during young age and continued contribution to the improvement of younger sportspersons.
Economic Leadership Award to the persons who have contributed to economic and entrepreneurial development and continued contribution to improve standards in the industry.
