Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today credited compensation for crop losses into the bank accounts of the farmers of the state.
A total of Rs. 22 crore was credited into the bank accounts of 34,586 farmers of the state.
The compensation amount is for the losses in the rabi season.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagan said that the government had launched the noble program for the welfare of the farmers.
He said that the rural economy would suffer if the farmers faced problems, and that 62% of the state's population was dependent on the agriculture sector.
Therefore farmers should not suffer from any natural calamities, and so his government would give compensation to those who suffered losses, and in the same season, he said.
He added that the compensation was being paid in a completely transparent manner.
