Assembly Session To Last 5 Days

The Business Advisory Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has decided to conduct the winter session of the Assembly for 5 days, from December 1.
Hyderabad | 30th November 2011
Government whip Kondru Murali on Wednesday informed that the Business Advisory Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has decided to conduct the winter session of the Assembly for 5 days from December 1.

The BAC's meeting chaired by Speaker Nadendla Manohar was attended by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu, Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao and Deputy Speaker Bhatti Vikramarka.

TDP's deputy-floor leaders Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu, TDP whip Dhulipala Narendra, TRS floor leader Etela Rajender, MIM MLAs Ahmed Pasha Quadri and Virasat Rasool Khan, Ganta Srinivasa Rao (Praja Rajyam), Gunda Mallesh (CPI), Julakanti Rangareddy (CPM), Jai Prakash Narayan (Lok Satta) and Lakshmi Narayana of BJP, too, attended the meeting.

However, the lone YSR Congress party MLA, Y S Vijayamma, did not turn up for the meeting.

Talking to media persons after the BAC meeting, Kondru Murali said that the ruling Congress party wanted a 4-day session to discuss various issues concerned general public and also to clear 9 pending bills. However, following the demand by the Telugu Desam Party for an increase in the session's duration, he said the BAC added one more day.

The Assembly will thus have five days of sessions, including a Sunday.

Murali said that the proceedings of day one would be confined to a condolence motion to mourn the death of independent MLA N Rajeshwar Reddy from Mahbubnagar district.

He said that Speaker Nadendla Manohar has permitted discussion on the drought situation in the state.

On Saturday evening, nine pending bills will be cleared.

Speaking about the No-Confidence Motion proposed by the TDP, Murali claimed that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has sufficient numbers to prove his majority in the House. (INN)
