The Intermediate exams, conducted by the Board Of Intermediate Examinations (BIE), began today in the state, and apart from a few glitches, all was mostly well.
In Guntur, around 50 students had not received their hall tickets, and despite having approached authorities, they weren't allowed to appear for the exams. The students then staged a dharna in protest.
Then, the issue of power cuts also plagued some. It isn't just about students not having enough power to study - several examination centres had no power. In Srikakulam and Kakinada, students had to write exams in the dark, and sweating it out in the heat.
And taking off on the by-now-familiar tone, parents of Telangana students demanded that their children's papers must be evaluated by Telangana evaluators only, claiming that they belived that this step will ensure that fairness.
