Leader of Opposition in the Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir described BJP national president Amit Shah's speech at Suryapet as bundle of lies.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Shabbir Ali said that the BJP president tried to mislead the people of Telangana with wrong statistics and claims.
Shabbir Ali said that Amit Shah first and foremost had no moral right to speak anything about Telangana. "The BJP-led NDA government failed to fulfill a single major promise made to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Be it a 4,000 MW NTPC power plant, a Railway Coach Factory at Kazipet, the revival of the Ramagundem Fertilizer Factory or the bifurcation of the High Court, the BJP government reneged on everything. And Telangana remained ignored in the distribution of drought relief and also in the Union Budgets, Railway Budgets, NITI Aayog, Smart Cities and all other Central schemes," he alleged.
The Congress leader then asked Amit Shah to disclose the details of the Rs. 90,000 crores which he claimed were released by the Centre for Telangana.
"The people of Telangana did not receive them, and the TRS government is silent about them. Therefore either Amit Shah is lying or the TRS government has swindled those funds," he said, adding that the common people had a right to know how those funds were utilized.
Launching a general tirade against the BJP thereafter, Shabbir Ali said that in his election speech at L B Stadium Narendra Modi had promised the common people Rs. 15-20 lakh each from the black money stashed in foreign accounts that he would recover. The people were still waiting for those Rs. 15 lakhs to be transferred to their accounts, he said derisively.
He also claimed that the BJP-led NDA government had ruined the country's foreign policy. While Shah was boasting of Modi's visit to the US, he should also clarify why India's relations with its immediate neighbours including Nepal, Pakistan and China were strained.
"Modi had proudly said that we must exhibition a 'Chappan Inch Ka Seena' (56-inch chest) However, he failed to react when our soldiers were killed by foreign intruders and terrorists in different incidents including the Pathankot attack," he also said.
He claimed that almost all the BJP's flagship initiatives including surrender of subsidized LPG cylinders, NREGS and Aadhar were originally launched by the UPA government, but that the BJP government was now trying to take credit for them by just renaming them.
