Telangana Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao launched Amazon Air at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport today.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that the launch of Amazon Air was a great moment in the Indian e-commerce industry, and assured Amazon that the State government would extend all possible support to it for its future initiatives.
"This is the first time that Amazon Air is being launched outside North America and Europe, and Hyderabad gets to host the event. I hope the new facility will strengthen Amazon's distribution network and enable faster delivery to customers," KTR said.
Amazon Air is a cargo airline operating exclusively to transport Amazon packages. In 2017, it changed its name from Amazon Prime Air to Amazon Air to differentiate itself from the Amazon Prime Air autonomous drone delivery service. However, the Prime Air logo remains on the aircraft.
