The Second Additional Judicial Magistrate of Nizamabad on Thursday remanded MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi to a 14-day judicial custody after he was produced before him by the Nizambad police in the alleged hate speech case.
Earlier, citing security reasons, the police approached the court seeking more time to produce the MIM MLA before it. Although the court granted time till January 31 for the police to produce Akbaruddin Owaisi, in a surprising move, a police team reached Adilabad District Jail and took him to Nizambad on a Prisoner Transit Warrant. Since the court's time was over, Owaisi was produced before the magistrate at his residence.
However, after the magistrate remanded Akbar Owaisi to a 14-day judicial remand, the Nizambad police shifted the MIM leader back to the Adilabad District Jail.
Akbaruddin Owaisi was arrested by the Nirmal Police in the alleged hate speech case on January 8. After sending him to 14-day judicial remand, the court has also granted five-day police custody for further investigation. However, the police surrendered his custody after four days and he was sent back to Adilabad District Jail. At the end of judicial custody period on January 22, the court had extended his judicial remand till February 5. (INN)
