After former captain of the Indian cricket team Mohammed Azharuddin
slammed the management of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for not picking any Hyderabad-based players for the team, TRS MLA and former minister Danam Nagender today also lambasted the management for its "failure" to include any local players in the team for IPL 2021.
Expressing his displeasure at the management, Nagender said, "It is sad to see that the SRH management did not pick even a single cricketer from Hyderabad for the team during the recent IPL auctions. The selection process has left many of us dissatisfied, and we will not allow the team to play any matches if our players are not picked for the tournament."
"The team should either accommodate local players or remove Hyderabad from its name. It is unfair that our players have been denied the chance to play in the upcoming IPL season. The oversight must be rectified as many players from the state and the city are very talented, and need the platform to grow and develop," he added.
It seems that many people in the city have been left disgruntled with the exclusion of local players from the SRH - the team's managers chose to secure the services of off-spinner Jagadeesha Suchith, batsman Kedar Jadhav and Afghanistan leg-spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman to fill its three vacant slots.
