The travails of the common man continued on the eighth day of the demonetization process as cumbersome queues of people were seen at several banks in the twin cities on Wednesday, without seeing any respite.
Angry people were heard hurling the choicest abuses at the Union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for going ahead with the demonetization without making proper arrangements to immunize the common people against the aftermath of the ban.
A few people who spoke to the media said that they were not against the demonetization itself, but against hasty decisions that make common people bear the brunt for no fault of their's.
They lamented that they had to forego their daily work to get their old notes exchanged as it generally took hours. They said that in many of the Banks, no additional staff were appointed to attend to the people.
