AP Leg Of NCSS To Begin On Saturday In Visakhapatnam

The two-day state level event of the 20th National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) will begin from Saturday in Visakhapatnam.
Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan at Payakaraopet is hosting the event being organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology (APCOST). About 500 child scientists, guide teachers, district coordinators, and district academic coordinators from all over the state are expected to participate in the event.
According to APCOST Member Secretary Y Nagesh Kumar, at the district level, a total of 2982 projects were prepared by the child scientists and presented on the focal theme - Energy: Explore, Harness and Conserve for a slot at the state level event. 177 projects have been selected for presentation at the state level event. As per the state quota for Andhra Pradesh, 30 projects shall be selected for participation at the national level event of the 20th NCSC - 2012 scheduled to be held at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh during 27th -31st December 2012.
The second project leader of the first two projects out of the 30 best projects will be selected for participation in the Indian Science Congress to be held during 3rd -7th January, 2013 at Kolkata.
Dr T V Venkateswaran, Registrar and Scientist E, Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and other senior officials will attend the inaugural function of the event. (INN)
