At least 16 people including three children were killed in two different road accidents across the state on Sunday.
According to reports reaching here, in a gruesome accident, at least 10 persons, including four women, were killed when the vehicle in which they were traveling had a head-on collision with a lorry near Lotuvagu, on the outskirts of Kothagudem in Khammam district.
The accident occurred around 2.30am when a 16-member group was returning to Bandirevalu after attending a marriage in Narsampeta of Warangal district.
The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
In another accident, six people, including three children, died on the spot, when a lorry rammed into an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling near Ponguturu village of Koyyelagudem mandal in West Godavari. The deceased include a four-month-old baby, a one-and-half-year-old child and a seven-year-old girl. The victims were returning to their home in Ponuturu when the mishap occurred.
The condition of auto driver is said to be critical, and he is undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital. The police have seized the lorry, and have registered a case against the driver who is said to be absconding. (INN)
