Acting tough, the Hyderabad District Fee Regulation Committee on Thursday recommended criminal action against 118 schools which violated the prescribed fee norms.
Briefing media persons after chairing the DFRC meeting, Hyderabad District Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena said the recognition of these schools might also be cancelled.
He informed that notices had been served to as many as 770 schools for not following the fee structure prescribed by the DFRC. Action would be taken against these schools if they failed to reply to the notice within a week.
As per GOs 40 and 42, the DFRC had fixed an annual fee of Rs 9,000 for Primary and Rs 12,000 for High School students.
In cases where the schools want to implement a high fee structure, they need to get prior approval from the DFRC citing valid reasons. The DFRC would review such applications and take a decision after conducting inspections, the District Collector said.
All schools are required to display the fee structure in their premises. Meena asked parents to approach the DFRC if they found schools violating the prescribed fee structure.
He also said that all schools should provide basic facilities like toilets, drinking water, electricity and benches. (INN)
