Doubts have been raised by the relatives of an 11-year-old girl, who is battling for life in Osmania General Hospital, that the police's version that she attempted suicide is incorrect.
The relatives of the girl, Yasmeen, stated that the police's story, which says that the girl attempted suicide by immolating herself after her parents fought with her neighbours, is fabricated.
They claim that the girl's neighbours had barged into her house, beat her up and set her on fire after the cited fight on Sunday night within the Bahadurpura police station limits.
The girl was rushed to the hospital where the doctors informed that she had received 95 % burns and that the chances of her survival were bleak.
The police, however, claim that the girl resorted to self-immolation after the tiff between her family and their neighbours. They say that the girl was mentally disturbed over the fight and had taken the extreme step.
The girl's relatives allege that the neighbours have bribed the police. When the relatives were asked to reveal their names, they became visually worried and refused to do so.
