100 Days TRS Rule Full Of Failures: Congress

The Telangana Congress leaders released a whole book titled "100 Days of TRS Misrule".
Hyderabad | 9th September 2014
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Tuesday alleged that the 100 days of TRS rule in Telangana were full of disappointments.

Speaking after releasing a brochure "100 Days of TRS Misrule" at Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC President Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Vice-President Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that the TRS government had failed to fulfill any of its promises made during the elections.

"The people of Telangana have completed 100 days of living under an arrogant, insensitive and anti-welfare TRS government. The last 100 days were full of disappointment, cheating and deceit," they said.

Ponnala said that the TRS Government simply ignored the implementation of the promises that it had made to the people.

He said that the government was unable to even decide its priorities.

"It spent crores of rupees to purchase new vehicles for the city police, but failed to pay the promised sops to the families of Telangana martyrs," he said.

Shabbir Ali alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao gave no importance to anyone except his family members.

"While he accommodated his son and son-in-law in his cabinet, he could not find a suitable woman or a tribal leader to be inducted into the Cabinet," he said.

"The Chief Minister has given different twists to the promises that he made to the people. The promise of waiver of farm loans is proving to be biggest lie in the history of Indian politics. The TRS government has given different twists and turns to the original promise since it came to power. It also held a customary meeting with the State Level Bankers Committee and assured to take action after the SLBC furnished the data in 15 days. Following pressure from the Congress party, the State Cabinet also gave its nod to waive off the farm loans. But still the promise remains unimplemented. The inordinate delay has left the farmers' community disheartened, and more than 200 farmers have committed suicide since TRS took over the regime," he alleged.

The Congress leader also condemned the TRS Government for its failure to prevent the merger of 7 mandals of Khammam district with Andhra Pradesh.

"The ruling party also gave a bandh call twice only to cover up its failure. Further, by excluding the 7 mandals from the Intensive Household Survey (IHS), it permanently surrendered Telangana’s right over those mandals," he said.

"The Intensive Household Survey was another gimmick played by the TRS government to delay the implementation of welfare schemes. An unscientific and unclear approach was adopted to conduct the survey, which remained incomplete as thousands of households were left out by the untrained enumerators. Now, the government intends to deprive the deserving beneficiaries of their rights citing lack of data," Shabbir Ali said.

The Telangana Congress leaders also accused the TRS government of unleashing an era of suppression of the right to protest.

"Farmers were brutally lathicharged when they held protests against the erratic power supply. It was done in the home district of the Chief Minister himself, and was aimed at conveying a message that the government would not tolerate any criticism or opposition. Similarly, the students of Osmania University, who played a major role in achieving statehood for the region, were brutally beaten up when they opposed regularisation of contract employees. The Chief Minister often humiliated the farmers and students with his sarcastic comments," they alleged.

Ponnala and Shabbir Ali also accused the government of failure in handling the energy crisis, having lack of clarity on the fee reimbursement or FAST scheme, non-implementation of 12% reservation each for tribals and muslims, deteriorating law and order, rise in incidents of violence against women, and other issues.

"The TRS government is proving to be 'Tears Government' for the farmers, students, employees and other common people," they alleged. "Instead of listening to the woes of the common people, the Chief Minister looks more interested in make them listen his 'Raaga Singapori'," they said.

The Telangana Congress leaders also criticized KCR for encouraging defections in other Parties. "So far, he made 5 MLAs and 14 MLCs defect to the TRS from different Opposition Parties. By doing so, he has set an unhealthy trend of horse-trading," they alleged.

They said that the Congress Party would expose the failures of the TRS government, and would adopt the mode of agitation to ensure that the farmers, students, employees and other sections of the society got justice. (INN)
