4,49,89,401 (86% of the enrolment) Aadhar cards were generated, according to a report.
Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Wednesday, responded positively to a proposal by the State Registrar and the Civil Supplies Department, regarding Aadhaar card enrolment works.
Reviewing the Aadhaar card enrolment works with the chief secretary and other top officials at Secretariat, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the status on the use of the Aadhaar number in the delivery mechanism was entrusted to IT&C department and the State Resident Data Hub.
Chief secretary Minnie Mathew, principal secretary (Planning), S P Tucker, principal secretary (Social Welfare) Raymond Peter, principal secretary (Finance) V Bhasker, the CM's principal secretary Binoy Kumar, the CM's additional secretary N Sreedhar, commissioner (Civil Supplies) Harpreet Singh, secretary (IT&C) Sanjay Jaju, and officials representing the UIDAI attended the meeting.
The total population of Andhra Pradesh is 8,46,65,533, and the total enrolment for Aadhar cards is 5,20,09,331 (61%). 4,49,89,401 (86% of the enrolment) Aadhar cards were generated, and the number of letters delivered is 3,65,69,376.
As far as the decision on the allotment of non-municipal uncovered areas of 16 districts is concerned, UIDAI has permitted non State Registrars to allow enrolment in their premises within a radius of 500 meters.
The UIDAI also said that if a non State Registrar desires to undertake enrolments outside their premises, the state-level UID Implementation Committee must approve of the enrolments and restrictions on data-sharing by the non State Registrars.
The government of India said that 5 districts - Hyderabad, Chittoor, East Godavari, Anantapur and Ranga Reddy - were identified for pilots related to certain government schemes based on Aadhaar, having completed enrolment of 5.20 crore, accounting for 26% of the country-wide enrolment.
Tenders have been called for the Aadhaar enrolment in the municipal areas of 15 districts allotted to State Registrar (except Vizianagaram district, where the Census Department completed the enrolment under NPR).
Tenders will be finalized in the first week of July, and enrolment in these districts will be completed at the earliest, the sources said. (INN)
