TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu's "Vastunna Mee Kosam" yatra seems to be fraught with mishaps, with his travails culminating with a freak accident in Gadwal, during the padayatra's Mahboobnagar district leg last night.
His audiences and supporters watched in shock as the dais from which he was speaking collapsed, causing him to suffer a minor injury to his back. Naidu, who tried to take up the yatra where he left it off despite the injury, found that he could not continue due to pain in his back.
He then had to discontinue the march post an examination by local doctors, who took note of a swelling on the Opposition leader's back and advised immediate rest.
TDP MLA Dayakar Rao claimed that there was "nothing dangerous" about the injury, and that a team of doctors from Hyderabad would be travelling there to conduct an X-ray scan among other examinations. His wife Bhuvaneshwari, along with their son, also rushed to the site of accident as soon as they heard of the mishap.
Chandrababu, who was on his 25th day of padayatra, had just finished his speech and was about to take his leave when the platform collapsed, causing party workers to rush to their leader en-masse.
