The YSR Congress Party flays the state government for the proposed hike in power charges to a net of Rs. 4,000 crores.
The YSR Congress Party, on Friday, flayed the state government for the proposed hike in power charges to a net of Rs. 4,000 crores, and demanded a roll back of the power prices.
"The state government has given the people a sore gift on Ugadi, by increasing the power tariff. Close on the heels of losing 7 by-elections, this decision will further distance the Congress from the people," YSRC spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters.
With the main opposition, the TDP, "playing second fiddle to the ruling Congress, we will continue to raise public issues," she added.
"The state proposes to raise Rs. 9,000 crores from the domestic sector by increasing the fare from 50 paise to one rupee for consumers using 50 units and more, and net Rs. 3,100 crores from the commercial sector. At a time when farmers and general people are unable to bear the burden of rising prices, this dose comes as an additional burden," she said, and demanded an immediate roll-back of the prices.
"The people have already vented their anger on the state government in the by-elections, and the Congress, instead of making amends to its policies, is going against the people's wishes," she added.
Sharply reacting to the TDP's remarks on Jagan's assurance of a corruption-free governance, she said, "TDP has no right to speak of a clean governance, as N Chandrababu Naidu's 9-year term was filled with corruption."
"It is only Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who has the moral right to speak of corruption-free governance, as the Congress and TDP have lost the chance and have no right to speak on the subject," she said. (INN)
