Politician Y S Sharmila, who is touring Telangana's Medak district, today visited the family of Venkatesh, a youth who committed suicide on May 16 as he was reportedly dejected by the non-issuance of DSC job notifications in the state.
She visited the bereaved family who resides in Veldurthi mandal, in Medak.
Speaking to the media on the matter, the leader said that she would stand by Venkatesh's family, and criticised the KCR regime's "failure" to generate jobs for the unemployed youth of the state even after the formation of a separate Telangana.
She added that the aspirations and dreams of the youth were no closer to being fulfilled even after seven years of the formation of the state.
"It is shameful and deeply saddening that unemployed youngsters in the state are committing suicide because they cannot find jobs even today. This is a grave injustice to those who fought for the creation of Telangana. 35 lakh unemployed youth are still waiting for government jobs," Sharmila fumed.
Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, she asked him when he would fill up the vacant posts in the various government departments of the state, and lambasted him for giving jobs "only to all his family members".
"Though the CM has secured jobs for many of his family members after the formation of Telangana, the delay in employment generation for the unemployed youth in the state makes me wonder if he is even interested in the welfare of the state's youth," the leader added.
Sharmila has been very vocal about the TRS regime's "failure" to address the issue of burgeoning unemployment in Telangana. She even went on a hunger strike near Hyderabad's Indira Park in April to protest against the state government's delay in issuing job notifications for the filling of vacant posts in Telangana's government departments.
