Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy today said that he would not contest elections any more in the future, but that his son Amit was ready to contest if the BRS offered a ticket to him from the combined Nalgonda district.
Speaking with the media, Reddy said, "Some Congress leaders from Nalgonda are likely to join the BRS. That may lead to some changes in the list of BRS candidates for the Assembly elections. If an opportunity is given to new candidates, my son Amit will definitely be in the fray of the list of candidates."
Reddy also exuded confidence that the BRS would retain all the 12 Assembly seats in Nalgonda district in the upcoming elections, and that it would also form the government for the third consecutive term.
He also refuted speculations that the BRS had a tacit understanding with the BJP, and said that his party treated both the Congress and the BJP as equal opponents in the election.
"The BRS will go to the people in the upcoming Assembly elections on the platform of the development that has taken place during the last nine years. I am confident that the majority of the people are happy with the performance of the BRS government, and that they will again cast their votes in favour of the BRS," he said.
