Telugu Desam Party MLA K Prabhakar Reddy on Thursday said that it would take a "lifetime" to develop Seemandhra region on par with Hyderabad.
Participating in the discussion on the State Reorganisation Bill in the State Legislative Assembly, Prabhakar Reddy claimed that Hyderabad was developed as a modern city during the TDP's regime.
He said that people from Seemandhra region have invested all their assets and resources for the development of Hyderabad.
However, he said that it would take a lifetime to develop another city as the capital of the Seemandhra region.
Expressing fears that the fate of Seemandhra people is at stake, he demanded that the Centre take up responsibility of development of Seemandhra region, in case the state gets divided.
Prabhakar Reddy said that the Centre has not specified anything in the Bill on how the Seemandhra region would be developed.
He demanded that the Centre immediately release Rs 5 lakh crore for Seemandhra region. (INN)
