Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the Pollution Control Board to take necessary actions to rid the State of industrial pollutants.
"We will make the State a major player in promoting the war against climate change," Naidu said.
Addressing the concerns expressed on the Mega Food Park that will be established in Tundurru in the West Godavari district, the Chief Minister reiterated that his government was committed to the progress of the district and gave assured the farmers of the district that no amount of effluents will be released into their environment.
He said that waste from the Park would be treated before releasing it into Bay Of Bengal. The Chief Minister warned officials not to bypass any pollution guidelines. Officials informed the CM that Rs. 25 crores had already been spent for the establishment of the Park and that it would be difficult to move it to any other location.
He said that people in West Godavari were progressive and development-oriented, and warned the Opposition against creating misconceptions among the people.
A panel comprising of local MLAs and collectors has been set up to seek people's opinions and to remove misconceptions among the people with regards to the establishment of the Park.
He also ordered the setting up of Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CEPT) for wastewater management in all industrial clusters in AP.
He directed the officials to set up a CETP for the treatment of Yanamadurru drain along with taking up treatment of polluted waters in all canals on a war footing.
He added that a report would be drafted on ways to control pollution levels and would be submitted within the next two to three days.
