Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao on Thursday reiterated that the TRS government would implement all the promises that it had made to the people of the new State.
Intervening during the debate on the Motion of Thanks following Governor E S L Narasimhan's address, at the Telangana State Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister accused the opposition of creating confusion in the minds of the people.
He said that there was no question of going back on the poll promises, and made it clear that the government was firm over the issue of waiving off farm loans of up to Rs 1 lakh as promised in the party's manifesto.
However, he also said that his government was yet to settle down and streamline its functioning.
He said that criticising a 10-day-old government was illogical. He said that only 71 posts of the All India Services had been allocated to Telangana, and several officials were yet to take charge.
He said that the division of Andhra Pradesh was still in process, and therefore it would take some time for his government to start implementing the promises.
KCR admonished the opposition parties for attributing to his government, some promises which he had never made.
For example, he said, he had never promised to provide jobs for each family in the State.
Similarly, he said that he had never promised that he would waive off DWCRA loans, although he had promised to increase the limit from Rs 5 to Rs 10 lakh.
The Chief Minister defended his stand on the Polavaram issue. He said that as a designated Chief Minister, he had every right to call for a bandh, and he would continue to do everything possible to protect the interests of Telangana.
He accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu of persuading the Centre to secretly issue an ordinance on the Polavaram project.
He also dismissed the allegations leveled by TDP floor Errabelli Dayakar Rao of leaking the discussions held during the bankers meeting regarding extension of the loan waiver scheme to gold and long-term loans. (INN)
